Who can become an Ambassador?
The CYA Student Ambassador Program is for alums, just like you, who want to share their experience and encourage others to consider the life-changing beauty of Greece and its inhabitants. Life happens, and memory of your time abroad can fade, but we want you to remember that you always have a home at CYA. By participating in the ambassador program you will continue to feel a part of Greece and your CYA family! The CYA Ambassador position is open to all current students, as most responsibilities involve doing outreach for CYA on a home campus. If you are an alum who has already graduated but still want to be involved, please contact Erica Huffman (erica@cyathens.org), Director of Alumni Relations, to learn about becoming a Class Agent or participating in other alumni activities.
What is a Student Ambassador?
Ambassadors are passionate alumni of CYA programs who primarily share their CYA experience with those back on their home campuses. Ambassador duties may include things like: sitting with a rep at the study abroad fair, giving an info session/presentation to students presenting in classes, hanging up posters, handing out flyers, serving as a contact for prospective CYA students, etc. We also ask that you share your experience through reviews on our online listings, as that is the best way to share your stories with a wide audience! Honestly, we can market until we are blue in the face, but when you share your experience of Greece, your authentic voice carries the most impact.
What is required?
This is a remote position that requires internet access and timely responses to emails. While there is no set hourly commitment, we ask that Ambassadors commit to completing at least 1 activity per month – though you are welcome to do more! – which will be recorded in a monthly
report that you submit during the school year (excluding school breaks). We will provide you with any CYA materials you need, and we will do our best to support you in making your activities happen!
What are the perks?
In addition to the benefits of being able to spread your CYA story and help support future CYA students, all Ambassadors will be compensated with a free stay in CYA apartments for up to 2 weeks next time you’re in Greece*, an official CYA Ambassador t-shirt, professional development resources, access to the Ambassador Facebook group, and more! Additionally, CYA has partnered with STA Travel to award 
a $500 flight voucher each semester to the Ambassador who has been the most active/effective in sharing their CYA story that term! The voucher is awarded based on evaluation of your monthly reports. We have found that experiencing Greece and CYA tends to leave alumni with an even greater desire to engage cross-culturally, and we hope that this opportunity can be a way to help you do that – whether it is returning to your “home away from home” in Greece or traveling elsewhere in the world!
*Please keep in mind that you must provide us with dates well in advance so we can confirm apartment availability. Apartments may not be available while CYA summer programs are in session each year. The complimentary stay is not valid when attending a CYA program or when participating in any other program facilitated through CYA.
