Returning to Athens? Come visit us!

SO, YOU ARE RETURNING TO ATHENS:

We very much look forward to welcoming our alumni back at CYA. If you have a trip to Athens planned, we hope you will schedule in time to visit CYA’s Academic Center, meet with staff or faculty and take time to catch up on the latest happenings at CYA. You can email Erica Huffman, Director of Alumni Relations, who will alert Athens staff of your upcoming visit (we do not require appointments but of course the more people who know you are coming, the more likely they are to be available).

If you have your dates set, please fill out our form here
and someone will follow up with you.

Some of the fun things returning alumni have had the chance to do:

  • Get a Tour of the Academic Center
  • Meet with Nadia Meliniotis or Popi Baloglu
  • Have lunch with Mr. Phylactopoulos
  • Visit with current CYA students
  • Discuss giving opportunities with CYA’s Development Officer, Vassilis Simopoulos
  • Enjoy a tour of CYA’s classrooms/apartments and the Pangrati area
  • Grab a coffee with a faculty member

Visiting Alumni

Excerpts from Visiting Alumni Log Book

We are fortunate to have several alumni return to Athens throughout the year, and when they can, they stop by the CYA Academic Center to say hello! Our beloved Student Affairs Director, Nadia Meliniotis, keeps a book where alumni can write notes/memories/comments. Here are a few:

Dear Nadia,
It is such a dream to be back here I can’t believe it has been three years, as I feel like no time has passed at all. I cannot thank you and the CYA faculty and staff enough for everything I learned here, from language to showing me the secret special places in this city and country. What a joy to return to my favorite place on earth and share it with someone I love. I will be back many times, I promise!

So much love, Reid Herreid

Nadia and CYA,
It is great to be back home in Athens, 28 years after my first stay as a CYA student. The CYA experience, the faculty and the friends I made shaped my life and helped make me the person I am today. I had no idea in January of 1991 how impactful the experience at CYA would have on me and the rest of my life.

With all my thanks
Travis Wilson, DePauw University ‘92

Dear Nadia,
It is wonderful to see you again! You, CYA, and Pangrati have a special place in my heart and it is a joy to be back and to share it all with my wife, Maria. This year I enjoyed spending some time in Athina as a participant in a Byzantine Greek program at the Gennadius Library — learning some Modern Greek at CYA was an immense help! Now, I am entering the fourth year of my PhD in Philosophy of Religion at Clare College, Cambridge.

Thank you for your continued support.
Πολλή αγάπη, Daniel and Maria
