Dear Miss Mary Liv Ingram, based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
This is an incredible opportunity to experience another culture in an immersive way! You learn so much by doing, rather than just seeing through a screen!
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
My best advice is DO IT! This is an amazing experience, that I wouldn't trade for the world!
How was the political climate in Greece different from what are you used to? If applicable, describe a time when you had to navigate a political conversation during your time abroad.
The political climate is much less tense in Greece than in my community in North Carolina. Many locals are open to discussions and happy to share their own stories about Greek policy!
Please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:
Student of color, Finances while abroad, Mental health while abroad, STEM major
Briefly describe a cultural experience you had that was significant to you in any way.
Nearly every week, I had coffee at a local café and spoke to my neighbors about all kinds of things - in Greek! Learning the language and getting to use it in practice was surreal, and something I enjoyed immensely!
Favorite food in Greece?
Souvlaki!
