Miss Jacklyn Healy based on your experience with CYA, what are some of the benefits of spending a semester or summer abroad? How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and professional development?
This semester abroad, though unprecedented and unconventional as it has been thanks to coronavirus, has been one of the best experiences of my life. I've learned so much, not only academically, but about people and their resilience and perseverance. From my professors and CYA staff constantly adapting to changing regulations, to my classmates' prevailing optimism and excitement, to the wonderful Greeks I've met and their dedication to community and connection, these people have all inspired me so much. I've met so many amazing people, and their character, passion, care, and joy have all made this a life-changing experience.
What advice do you have for prospective students who are interested in or planning to study abroad with CYA?
My biggest piece of advice would be to come into the experience with an open mind and an open heart. Be willing to set yourself free! You're in a new place, in a new country, with new people; you can be whoever you want to be. Be open to anything: try new things, taste new foods, take new adventures. Experience it all!
Please select any of the following that apply to you, and that you would be willing to share about your CYA experience with other students:
