10 Things CYA students are Thankful for
#1 – The Friends
The frienships you make while studying abroad in Athens last forever. For those sharing Athenian apartments, things can get very f.r.i.e.n.d.s !
#2 – The City
Breathtaking views, culturally dense, with an up and coming art scene and famous cafe/night life culture, Athens is one of the most exciting cities in Europe and the world. Thank you Athens!
#3 – The view
First time anyone walks into the CYA Academic Center and looks at the view their jaw drops a little.
Facts: you can see the Parthenon, the National Gardens, AND the Panathenaic Stadium all in the same 180° view.
#4 – The Professors
Whether its about redescovering history and becoming familiar with ancient art, or exploring urban surroundings and deconstructing socio/political constructs, our faculty inspire as much as they teach.
#5 – The Food
Greece seems to be the mecca of yummy food that’s also good for you. Extra-terrestrial Greek Salads, Super-Sonic Gyros, Thank you.
#6 – The Trips
Apart from the two academic field trips across Greece that CYA offers to students, plus optional trips to Greece and abroad, CYAers use weekend time and holidays to travel like the wind and experience different places!
#7 – The Sun
One thing is certain, you get a LOT of vitamin D in Greece. Thanks sun!
#8 – All the Cats and Dogs
They hang out in your local square, they casually wait for the green light to cross the street, they are always happy to be petted, and they fill our lives in Athens with pure happiness!
#9 – The Outdoor Classes
Do you think you learn better when you can walk outside of the classroom and experience the concepts you are learning about? So does CYA.
#10 – The Culture
“Our hearts have been moved by the tragedies of Aeschylus and Euripides. Our minds have been opened by the histories of Herodotus and Thucydides. Our understanding of the world and our place in it has been expanded by Socrates and Aristotle” – Barack Obama, 2016
