CYA hosts the 3rd European Conference of The Forum on Education Abroad

On October 5-7 CYA was delighted to host The Forum on Education Abroad 3rd European conference Living Change: Education Abroad in 21st Century Europe. We welcomed 350 education abroad administrators and faculty from across Europe, as well as their colleagues from the U.S. who work with European programs and universities.

The conference was a great success. It explored how U.S. education abroad defines Europe and how European education abroad partners define Europe to visiting U.S. students, so that students may appreciate the past, understand the present, and anticipate the future of Europe, the most popular education abroad destination.

Some of the highlights included the fascinating conference session presentation by our very own Executive Director of Student Affairs Nadia Meliniotis and CYA professors Dr. Aimee Placas and Angeliki Dimitriadi, which discussed the specific contemporary ethical concerns with expanding the responsibilities of service learning and volunteerism programs within the realm of study abroad. CYA’s pre-conference on-site classes, walks, open house and apartment tours as well as food tasting and survival Greek, also proved popular among our guests, immersing them in the vibrancy of Athens life and showcasing the best of the CYA study abroad experience. We thank the Forum for the opportunity to host such a wonderful event, and everyone involved including the attendees, session presenters, the conference committee, the European associations, especially our hardworking faculty and staff who dedicated their time to making the conference a success. Conference session presentations and materials can be found on The Forum website and photos on the event and pre-conference activities can be viewed on CYA and the Forum’s Flickr pages.
