Reliving the Trial of Socrates – A two-part Interactive Presentation

You are cordially invited to a two-part interactive presentation of the Trial of Socrates that will take place on Wednesday, 30 June, and Thursday, 1 July, at 6:00 p.m.  at DIKEMES, Plateia Stadiou 5, Kallimarmaro.  Refreshments will be served.

The presentation’s first part will aim to transform the participants into citizens of Athens ca.

400 B.C.  The second part will include a discussion on the trial and sentencing, and the relevance of the trial today, both in terms of legal process and social impact. Film clips on Athens in the 4th Century B.C. and depictions of the trial and its aftermath will complete the experience.

The presentation will be given by  Professor of Law Francis E. McGovern, Duke University School of Law, and by Mr. K.Chris Todd, attorney at law, of Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel, Washington, D.C.  This promises to be an exciting and novel treatment of a very interesting and always relevant ancient trial.
